Genevieve Lee Harris, age 92, passed away on Thursday, May 4, 2018. She had just returned from a vacation at the beach with all of her children where they celebrated her 93rd birthday a few weeks early.
Her children consider themselves blessed to have been with her for the last few days of her life. Years ago they made it an annual priority to gather together from five different states to spend time with her. What a gift it was to be together when God called her home.
Only four months ago, her beloved Bill, went home to be with Jesus. How appropriate that she would be right behind him, where she had been for the last thirty seven years.
Her life could best be summed up in three words... She loved Jesus. Through good times and bad, plenty and need, sickness and health, she never wavered in her strong faith. He was her first love. To know that she is now with Him brings us great joy.
Gen was fortunate to have traveled the world in her younger years. Raising her six children from the mountains of West Virginia to the beauty of Europe with many places in between. However, no matter where she found herself, she was content. She had a God given ability to rest in His peace. Always, in His peace.
She will be greatly missed by her children, Rema Summers, Susan (Bill) Arnold,
Richard (Peggy) Payne, Cindy (Kenny) Briel, Lori Bordas and her step children,
Elsie Lancaster and Roy Harris. Gen had grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren too numerous to list. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Harris, and her daughter, Marty Mazur.
A celebration of Gen’s life will be held Sunday, May 6, 2018 at 4pm at McLaurin Funeral Home in Clayton, NC.
