Harvey Lathrop

Harvey went to be with his Lord and Savior January 3, 2015. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Wilson Lathrop, of Clayton, NC, his daughter, Rebecca Lathrop Love, her husband Bradley D. Love, their daughter, Natalie and son Nick all of Reynoldsburg, OH. He is survived by a brother James E. Lathrop (Pat), Valrico, FL and Sisters-in-law Marie Lathrop, Marion, OH and Janet Lathrop, Delaware, OH, along with many loved nieces and nephews. Harvey was born in Oklahoma. He was the 3rd of 5 boys born to the late Elbert Norman and Marjorie Wade Lathrop. He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Allen Lathrop and three brothers, Norman Wade Lathrop, William Roy Lathrop and Elbert Gene Lathrop. Most of his life was spent in Ohio where he became a well respected businessman in the Columbus area having partnered to form Dunning-Lathrop & Associates, an insurance agency. He served in the US Army during World War II, stationed in Manila, Philippines. He was a member of The First Baptist Church, Clayton, NC. He was a long standing member of the Granite 0191 Masonic Lodge, Clayton, NC and Past Master of the Neoacacia Masonic Lodge, Columbus, OH; York Rite, Westerville, OH, Shriner’s International, Johnston County Shriner’s Animated Animals, Smithfield, NC and The American Legion, Clayton, NC; Veterans of Foreign Wars, Wooster, OH and Selma, NC. The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 7, 10:00-11:00 am at the First Baptist Church, 411 North Fayetteville Street, Clayton, NC 27520, with service to follow immediately in the Sanctuary at 11:00 am. Officiating will be Dr. Mark White. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Harvey’s memory to the Shriner’s Children Hospitals at www.shrinershospitalsforchildren.org/en/donate.
