Hayden Leo Croom Jr.

Hayden “Buzzy” Leo Croom, Jr., 80, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 2, 2016 after months of declining health. Buzzy was born in New Bern, NC on October 10, 1935 to the late Hayden L. and Myrtle Pate Croom. Buzzy grew up in the community of Spring Garden in New Bern. He spent most of his adult life working at a Building Supply company; serving the Lord as a Deacon and Sunday School teacher at Spring Garden Missionary Baptist Church. He loved spending time with his family, hunting, gardening and church gatherings. He is survived by his wife of 56 years Patricia "Pat" Morton Croom; a sister, Maxine Hill; daughter Donna (Mike) Dixon, daughter Debbie (Theadore) Kowaleski, 4 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, loving and supportive brother and sister in laws Herb and Linda Nelke and Ron and Carolyn Morton as well as many very special nieces and nephews. A celebration of his life will be Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at 3pm, at Wildwood Baptist Church, 5788 Cornwalis Road, Garner, NC 27529. The family will receive friends from 2-3pm at the church. A private Burial will be Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at Greenleaf Cemetery in New Bern, NC. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to SECU Hospice House in Smithfield, NC, where he received loving care. Arrangements by McLaurin Funeral Home.
