

Janice Pearson Boyette passed away peacefully on July 13, 2025 after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. Jan was born October 22, 1938 in Wilson, NC to Thurman and Rachel Pearson. She went to Rock Ridge High School and married her high school sweetheart, Robert Dock Boyette. They were married for 64 years.
She and Dock enjoyed travelling and she loved camping in their various campers and motor homes over the years and had traveled to all continental states. She was a Tarheel fan and loved UNC basketball. She also loved to watch the Dallas Cowboys.
During her life, Jan was a teacher's aide, substitute teacher, and ran a successful farm alongside her husband for 40 years. She was a talented seamstress, and made clothes for her daughter and granddaughter as they were growing up. She was skilled at quilting, cross stitch, and crocheting. Most recently her passion was crocheting toboggans, mittens and fingerless gloves, dish cloths, and especially loved making adorable and lovable stuffed animals. She donated these items to children's ministries and to events that raise money for local ministries.
She loved the Lord and was a longtime member of Holly Spring FWB church in Kenly, NC and is now a member of Clayton Methodist Church.
She was a doting wife,mother, grandmother and great grandmother, and had recently become a great great grandmother. She was over the moon!
She leaves behind a daughter, Pamela Smith (Robbie); granddaughter, Courtney Neal (Kenny); great-grandson, Tristan Neal (Brooke), great-great-granddaughter, Zoey McKenna Neal; sisters, Jo Smith & Carolyn Rollins (Maurice), and a special brother in law, L.A. Boyette.
She also leaves 3 step-grandchildren, Jon Smith (Tawney), Emily Morphies (Daniel) and Zack Smith (Jennifer) and step-great grandchildren, Hannah, Abigail and Kipton Smith; Jordyn, and Grayson Morphies and Carsyn Benson (Kyle); and Collins, Mason, and Wyatt Smith.
She is preceded in death by her parents and husband.
As per her wishes, a private funeral service for immediate family will be held at McLaurin Funeral Home.
