Joanne Bishop

Joanne was born in Amsterdam, NY on June 13, 1944 to Edmund and Elizabeth Alteri. She grew up in Fort Johnson, NY, and moved to the Town of Perth after marrying her beloved husband, Gene Harvey Bishop on September 4, 1965. They celebrated 23 years together before Gene passed away on February 6, 1988. Joanne moved to Clayton, North Carolina in 2014 to be closer to her children and grandchildren.

Joanne was a happy homemaker, devoted wife, and an amazing mother and grandmother. She worked at her sister Patti’s flower shop and greenhouse for over twenty years. She enjoyed baking for family and friends. Her apple turnovers and Christmas cookies were the favorites among everyone. Many will remember Joanne for her heart of gold, and genuine compassion.

Joanne is preceded in death by her husband, Gene; her mother and father, Edmund and Elizabeth; her brother, Richard Alteri and her sister, Patricia Adamkoski.

Joanne is survived by her daughters, Barbara Bishop, Karen Newhart and her husband, William; Her brother, Edmund Alteri and her Granddaughters, Kaylin Jean and Amber Nicole, all from Clayton, NC.
