Joseph John Munroe, age 65, of Raleigh, North Carolina passed away on Friday, September 30, 2022. Joseph was born May 15, 1957. Services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at St. Francis of Assisi Church, located at 11401 Leesville Road, Raleigh, NC.
He is preceded in life by his wife Karen, children Joseph, Michelle, Christopher, Eliezer and Heather, grandchildren Soncie, Adrianna, Giavanna and Christian and siblings William, Timothy, Deirdre and Brett, along with an abundance of nieces, nephews, and countless friends, co-workers and acquaintances.
Joe, Papa Joe, Big Joe, Brother Joe, as he was commonly referred embodied Clarence’s inscription in George’s gifted edition of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, amid the holiday classic, It’s a Wonderful Life; “No man is a failure who has friends.” And everyone knew Joe, whether through family, friends, karaoke, darts or a friendly debate that the differing opinion most likely lost, there is no doubt his presence was celebrated. Often referred to as “the life of the party,” his infectious laugh ignited a room as his big heart warmed it.
Originating from Long Island, New York, he loved watching football and baseball (The NY Mets), playing softball, cooking, reading, giving advice, providing hugs and radiating an unending unconditional, non-judgmental love for his entire family.
While those he left behind are saddened by his departure from this world, they are grateful to have had him, even for the short time he was here, because they are positive Heaven has gained a bit more joy when Big Joe entered those pearly gates belting his favorite song, “You Are So Beautiful to Me.”
