MARY “Randee” Logan Barbour, 88, of Clayton NC passed away Tuesday, January 12 at Lawndale Manor Assisted Living in Garner, NC. Ranee was a native of Shelby, NC and the oldest of four daughters born to the late Graham Randolph and Aylene Walker Logan.
After growing up in Shelby and attending Western Carolina University in Cullowhee with a major in Business Administration. Randee spent the majority of her next years in the Clayton and Raleigh, NC area. Her major work was with the N.C. Department of Correction from which she retired after over 30 years of service in Prisons, Parole and Probation. In addition to her professional work, Randee, prompted by her love of animals, operated Thornfalcon Kennels where she trained and bred German Shepherds for therapy, search and rescue, pets and dog shows. This was a true pleasure in her life.
In addition to her parents, Randee was predeceased by her husband of 31 years, Gerald “Dickie” Barbour and a sister Loula Elizabeth “Betsy” Logan Phillips of Gaffney, S.C. She is survived by special friend, Joy Smith and special grandson, Luke Smith Tran of Raleigh, stepdaughter, Jacqueline Barbour Wilkes, and step-grandchildren, Zachary and Carolyn Wilkes of Nevada. She is also survived by sisters, Suzanne Logan Keeter of Grover, N.C. and Linda Logan Kennedy and husband John of Andrews, N.C. along with many beloved nieces and nephews. Randee loved her friends and family and loved gatherings of both.
Randee was a lifelong Baptist and a member most recently of Wilson’s Mills Baptist Church whose church member’s friendships she always appreciated and cherished. Her favorite hymn was “Just As I Am” and scripture, Psalm 19. She is now commended to God’s everlasting care,
