Mavis Carroll House

Mavis Carroll House, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at the age of 89. Mavis was born in Johnston County on January 17, 1935 to the late James A. and Lizzie Mae Wall Carroll. She was a member of White Oak Baptist Church and volunteered with the White Oak Caregivers. She enjoyed making homemade quilts, cooking, baking, farming, gardening and talking with her lifelong friends on the phone for hours every evening.

In addition to her parents, Mavis is also preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Ray House; her daughter-in-law, Sandra House; sisters, Leah Carroll, and Dorthaleen Carroll Lynch; brothers, Jesse Hugh Carroll, Ashley Carroll, Elton Ray Carroll and Lumas Odell Carroll.

She is survived by her children: Jeff House, Johnny House and his wife, Sherry, Jeanine Holder and her husband, Benny, Jennifer McNichol and her husband, Duke; grandchildren, Melissa Wilder (Nathan), Olivia Matison (Chris), Caden McNichol, Ryan House (Jordan), Cheyenne McNichol, Nicole Holder, Colton McNichol, Benjamin Holder (Jessica), Taylor Bunn (Matt), Hannah Holder and Daniel Holder; great grandchildren, Karleigh Wilder, Lyrra Bean, Kira Bleau, Walker Bunn, Harlyn Matison, Sawyer Bunn, Cannon House, Declan Holder, Cayson Matison, Whitley Bunn and Dax Holder as well as many nieces and nephews. She had a wonderful group of ladies that poured their time, energy and love into taking care of her around the clock since July. These ladies became a part of our family, and their names are Barbara Eason, Sallie McCray, Kechi Arnold, Florence Cox, Jewell Warren, Connie Bryant, Stephanie Holder and Laura Williams.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 28, 2024 at 2:00pm in the chapel of McLaurin Funeral Home with the family receiving friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 until 2:00pm at the funeral home. The committal service will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park, Clayton.
