Born in Nashville, Tennessee on August 1st, 1986, Patrick grew up in Franklin, Tennessee, where he had a wonderful childhood surrounded by family and friends. He was extremely intelligent, with early interests in astronomy, physics, and psychology. He connected with lifelong best friends, Michael Trimble and Phillip Swanson, along with his core friend group who he loved to be around. A favorite place to gather was always McNamara’s Irish Pub and Restaurant, where lasting memories of music and laughter would be made. Patrick’s laugh was infectious and could be heard from a mile away. He loved making those around him laugh until they cried; you just couldn’t help smiling in his presence.
From an early age, Patrick had a huge passion for video games, especially video game history. He loved reading books that went into extreme depth, and had a dream of one day writing his own. When it came to playing games with his beloved friends, he was highly skilled in every aspect, but his role of choice was a Healer. He was that person that always swooped in to save you. When you needed him, he was there. That could also be said in real life. Patrick just wanted to be that person that removed your hardships and your pain, and got you back up on your feet. He always said he wanted to be a billionaire, just to give the money away to those who needed it. He was a gift-giver through and through.
Patrick understood how important a support system could be, as he himself overcame so many of his own obstacles with his family and friends at his side. Throughout his life he struggled with premature birth, ADHD, seeing in double vision, but most notably, an extremely serious and almost deadly case of Ulcerative Colitis that was diagnosed in 2002 at age 15. Those experiences became a massive testament to his determination, strength, and his ability to stay level-headed during difficult times.
In 2014, Patrick moved to Orlando, Florida, and started a job at Universal Orlando Resort, where he was a line cook at The Three Broomsticks in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. It was there he met a server, Melissa, and their love sparked like magic. It was a pivotal moment in time, where two nerdy people found their other half, and bonded over things like Harry Potter, Spider-Man, rock music, Pokémon, and so much more. On January, 25th 2017, Patrick completely surprised Melissa by proposing at their favorite spot, Cranes Roost Park in Altamonte Springs, Florida. That next year on November 2nd, 2018 they were married, and it was the happiest day of their lives. They made beautiful vows to one another, promising a life of happiness and love. From 2014 to 2025, their honeymoon phase never ended, and their incredible bond only grew stronger, inspiring those around them. Patrick was an incredible husband and partner, always caring and supportive. In 2021, they embarked on an adventure together and moved to Clayton, North Carolina, just outside of Raleigh, where they bought their first house.
Patrick was always known for being a compassionate, impactful, and respected leader, whether that was in retail or in food service. His favorite managers taught him it was extremely important to work alongside his team members, not just delegate, and he carried that mindset throughout his whole career. If he left a job for a better opportunity, his team members would follow, that is how essential he was to them. Though he worked in retail for over a decade, that was never his true calling. In early 2025, he started studying at WGU for a degree in IT management, and had big dreams of marrying his proficiency in leadership with his love for technology.
Patrick tragically lost his life in a car accident on June 19th, 2025, in Garner, North Carolina. This tragedy will never feel real, but his legacy and love will continue to live on within his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, and he will never, ever be forgotten.
Patrick was predeceased by his father, Phil Trevathan, and his grandmother, Joyce Trevathan.
Patrick is survived by his wife and soulmate, Melissa Trevathan, his two fur children, Pyra and Sylvie, his mother, Carmel Chaffin Henson, and his sister, Rebecca Trevathan.
