Paul David Johnson of Clayton, North Carolina died on September 30, 2021 at the age of 41. Anyone who was lucky enough to know Paul would agree that his light was so great, that even after he is gone he will remain in our hearts forever.
He was born on March 7, 1980 in Raleigh, North Carolina. There is no doubt he is up in heaven right now trying to remind me to let you all know that he was the only one in our family who was actually born on time; Paul was born on his due date. He was the youngest child of David Lee Johnson and Grace Stancil Johnson. God really knew what he was doing when he paired Paul with David and Grace. Their unparalleled devotion to Paul was the most unselfish demonstration of parental love that could exist. Paul is also survived by his two sisters Melanie Johnson Moore and Chrissy Ann Johnson who diligently loved him and involved him in every aspect of their lives. Paul was also blessed with three nephews and one niece. Zachary Moore, Tyler Moore, Braxton Johnson, and MaddieGrace Moore were all raised with Paul at their side playing legos, video games, cards, nerf gun wars, and too many pranks to mention.
There were many things other than his family that Paul loved in his life. His Kung Fu training was one of his most prized accomplishments. He and his dad took Kung Fu together and would spend time practicing at home. He also enjoyed going to AARP taxes with his dad. There he became friends with all the volunteers, many who spoiled him and treated him like family. He absolutely loved the Pittsburg Steelers. I’d say you’d have a hard time finding him without some form of Steelers apparel ever. Paul also loved music. Many people who love him have memories of him dancing at parties and events. He loved listening to Elvis, the Beetles, the Oldie Goldies, and country music. If you wanted to make him smile, bring him some M&Ms, pizza, a Cola Icee, or hit the jackpot and take him to Fiesta which was his favorite restaurant. When you walk in Fiesta with him, every employee stops by his table teasing with him and joking. You suddenly get the feeling that you are with a celebrity. Guess what? You were… Paul was one of God’s celebrities. He lived such an honest and caring life that we should all try to duplicate. Thats the inspiring thing about Paul, everyone who ever met him instantly loved him. How could you not? He made friends everywhere he went. His jokester personality mixed with the most honest and caring heart made him too charming to resist.
The family feels overwhelmingly blessed with the many family and friends who have prayed, called, and visited during this difficult time. Please join us for a service on Monday, October 4, 1:00pm at Christ Community Church at 1082 Amelia Church Rd. Clayton, N.C. A reception will follow immediately.
We will hold him in our hearts until we can hold him again in heaven.
