
Phillip Ray Rorabaugh, 68, passed away on Friday July 3, 2015 after a battle with a rare sarcoma cancer. A native of Akron, Ohio, he was born November 21, 1946 to the late Clair and Georgia Hudson Rorabaugh. He was a former employee of the Norton Company in Tallmadge, BFGoodrich in Akron, where he developed and installed the Hot Melt Program for the Adhesives Division. He then moved on to Lord Corporation, based in Erie, PA, where he was Plant Manager of their Polyurethane Films Division in Gloucester, MA. While there he helped the Kimberly Clark Company develop the leg bands for Huggies Diapers. His last 14 years in MA were spent with Deerfield Urethane, S.Deerfield, MA. He helped Dr. Wilem Kolff, at the University of Utah, develop the first artificial heart, worked with Michigan State University on developing a better helmet to protect their football players, helped The Female Health Company in London, England develop the female condom. He retired from Pacrim, Cary, NC in 2008. Phil was a talented, extremely creative and ethical businessman who made many friends both here and abroad. He was a kind, loving, and caring husband, father and grandfather. He loved being with his wife, children, grandson and his brother and sisters as well as his Mafia Wars Facebook family. A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, July 11, 2015 at 11am from the Heritage Congregational Church, 485 West Street, Berea, OH 44017. A luncheon will follow at the church. Phillip is survived by his wife of 42 years, Ginny (Broadhurst) Rorabaugh; sons, Ted Rorabaugh and wife, Karen and Steve Rorabaugh and wife, Heather; grandson, Gunnar; brother, John R. Rorabaugh and wife Betsy; sisters, Carol Moyers ( and the late Gordon), Dianne Floto and husband, Bill, and Claire Moye and husband, Charles; his dogs Isabel & Rosie, and cat Hope, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous others who thought of him as their Dad through the years. Your family misses you, Sweet Phillip. Your strength, friendship, humor, guidance and undying love were gifts you gave. Without you our lives will never be the same again. “Perhaps they are not stars, but rather openings in Heaven where the love of our lost ones pour through and shine down upon us to let us know they are happy.” We will love you forever.
