On Sunday, January 19, 2020, Ray Biggs, loving husband and father of four, passed away at the age of 79. He spent the days before he passed, surrounded by loved ones in his home. Ray was born on December 26, 1940 in Lee County, Virginia to Dewey and Elva Biggs. He became a member of the National Guard at the age of 16 and eventually joined the United States Air Force at the age of 21. On July 5, 1963, he married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Greer (Biggs). They raised three sons, Scott, Kevin, and Shane and one daughter, Ashley together. Ray served in the United States Air Force for 16 years. He eventually went on to work for Wayne County, ABC Store and retired from there in 2012. Ray was an avid lover of Country music and Western Movies. He loved his family more than anything in this world. He was known for his quick wit and his good advice. Ray may be gone in body, but his spirit will live on forever with the memories that we share. Ray was preceded in death by his father Dewey Biggs, his mother Elva Biggs, and his brother Billy Joe. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Greer Biggs; his four children, Scott, Kevin, Shane, Ashley Biggs; 8 beautiful Grandchildren; 1 Great grand -daughter; and two sisters, Linda Biggs Ely and Loretta Biggs Taylor. Visitation for Ray Biggs will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at McLaurin Funeral Home located at 12830 US 70 Business Highway West, Clayton, NC 27520 at 12:30pm with the funeral following at 2:00pm.
