Robert Matthew Beck, Jr., affectionately known as "Bob," passed away on Sunday, May 25, 2025, at the age of 79. Born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts, Bob had lived in Clayton, North Carolina, for the past 10 years, after having spent most of his adult life in Plymouth, Massachusetts.
Bob built a distinguished career in technology sales, serving as both a Sales Representative and Buyer/Planner for a number of manufacturing and technology companies, before leveraging his industry experience and entrepreneurial spirit to found his own manufacturer’s representation company in the early 2000s, BerDan Sales, Inc.
A devoted member of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Clayton, and previously St. Bonaventure’s in Plymouth, Bob found great strength and comfort in his faith. He was passionate about golf and had a deep love for history, particularly American history. Those who knew Bob will remember him as kind, loving, loyal, patient, funny, intelligent, warm, and welcoming to all.
Bob was a man who turned strangers into friends with his warm smile and had an extraordinary gift for making others feel valued. He was known for his love of a good joke, delivered with perfect timing, and as an avid storyteller. His family describes him as their foundation – someone who loved unconditionally, without judgment, and with his whole heart.
Bob was preceded in death by his beloved son, Dana Beck; his parents, Margaret and Robert Beck; and his siblings, Paula Fairfield, Lawrence Beck, Kevin Beck, and Paul Beck.
He is survived by his cherished wife of 56 years and best friend of 61 years, Bernadette Beck; his loving daughter Danielle Beck; his brother David Beck, sister-in-law Amy Beck, and many beloved nephews, nieces, and extended family members. In so many ways, Bob was the foundation of his family's world, and they consider themselves extraordinarily fortunate to have had him. His legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering support will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.
A visitation for Bob Beck will be held on Monday, June 2, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at McLaurin Funeral Home in Clayton, NC, followed by a service in the McLaurin chapel at 11:00 am. A live broadcast of the service can be viewed here. A burial is being planned for the week of June 30, 2025, in Plymouth, Massachusetts.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Alzheimer's Association. https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://donorservices.alz.org/page/FUNZRKELQMQ?utm_source=google&utm_medium=paidsearch&utm_campaign=giving_google_SL&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=1707986387&gbraid=0AAAAAD8nX1rptU7K022WPP66sABzEML-Z&gclid=CjwKCAjwi-DBBhA5EiwAXOHsGdMgXfo0UFn0zeHfuEjepXxmcikbRxOJBctpZPX4f6NUTYdf01tEphoCG3cQAvD_BwE__;!!M2D_dUfSiN4E!N87pEwjpsiADxQpVmETfWh8cxm1Nlt5Jv8l9BuHSy0Wsq2bgz0iGmu7AXid4h8uBM5-RXCX8FweT_jrlravvZOdQ2ckDgo3l$
