Rose Blackmon Blackmon Willis

Rose Blackmon Willis, age 66, passed away on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at her residence after a long courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at Haven Free Will Baptist Church, 5408 Tryon Road, Raleigh, NC with Reverend Jim Summerson officiating. Burial will follow at Johnston Pentecostal FWB Church, 5386 Johnston Chapel Road, Benson, NC. She was a native of Johnston County and the daughter of the late Sexton Walton Blackmon and the late Lula Pearl McLamb Blackmon. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Joyce Beck; brothers Melvin Earl Blackmon, Gerald Blackmon and Jerry Blackmon; and a daughter, Delia Elaine Young. She is survived by her husband, Stephen Land Willis; her children, Brian Keith Willis (Brenda), Tracey Jonel McCloud (Michael), Wendy Dawn Williams (Lawson) and Franklin Walton Willis; brother, W.L. Blackmon (Betty); sisters, Margie B. Grove and Hilda B. Scribner; and six grandchildren, Camden Willis, Kyndall Willis, Connor Willis, Troy Williams, Noah McCloud and soon-to-be, Eady Rose Williams. The family will receive friends from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at McLaurin Funeral Home in Clayton. She cherished her family and all of God’s creatures. She was a keeper to the birds of the sky and flowers of the earth. Her battle from cancer was won with great victory. She walked by faith with every step toward the victory. We have been in the presence of an angel. Memorials may be made to the Cancer Unit of UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill, NC.
