Stacy Lynn Kinney, age 71, passed away peacefully at his home in Clayton on Friday, March 1, 2024. Born in Greensboro on June 24, 1952, he was a son to the late Albert James Kinney and Marian Stacy Kinney.
One of four children, Stacy graduated from Grimsley High School and attended East Carolina University. Stacy was an avid golfer; he entered amateur tournaments while also teaching his grandson how to play. He learned to play guitar at a young age and taught his niece how to play in his free time. Stacy was a kind man and his family will miss him dearly.
A visitation will be held for friends and family on Sunday, March 10, 2024, from 1:00-3:00pm at McLaurin Funeral Home.
Stacy is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Cheryl Powell Kinney of Clayton; son, Jeff Powell; daughter-in-law, Sil Powell; sister, Pam Hartsock; beloved grandson, Anthony Powell (Kieu Tran); granddaughters, Melissa and Alyssa Powell; many loving nieces and nephews, and his cat companion, Jackie.
