He was born in Sanford, North Carolina on January 22, 1949 to the late Stephen Thomas Medlin, Sr. and the late Thelma Gaddy Medlin Dyer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Bobby Medlin.
Tom was a graduate of Lee Senior High School and a proud Veteran of the United States Army. He was a devoted husband of 44 years, a loving family man, and a compassionate friend. He loved his church, his country, his family, and his customers. He owned and operated an Allstate insurance business for years with a loving and loyal staff in Smithfield, NC. He fought hard to prove that it doesn't matter where you come from, that if you work hard and help others, that you can achieve anything. Tom was quick to tell a joke, quick to negotiate, and quick to lend a hand. He was a true gentleman with a desire to continue bettering himself and helping others do the same. He will remain in our hearts and minds forever.
He is survived by his wife, Paula Lee Medlin; children, Stephenie Medlin Bacon, Stephen N. Medlin, Bryan S. Pittman, and Meredith P. Calton; grandchildren, Emily Bacon, Barrett Bacon, Rachel Medlin, Morgan-Kate Calton, Asher T. Calton; sisters, Linda Gaster and Anita Thompson.
