He was the cherished husband of 65 years to the late Antoinette Smurro; devoted father to Vito Smurro (Frances) of Garner, NC, Victor Smurro (Patricia) of Charleston, SC and Lisa Wheeler (Frank) of Raleigh, NC. Vincent was also the loving grandfather to eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Vincent was born in Bronx, NY on July 1, 1930. He served in the Army and was a Korean War veteran. He married Antoinette at Mt. Carmel Church in the Bronx in 1954 and raised a family before moving to Pleasantville, NY.
Vincent worked for the United States Postal Service for 38 years and eventually relocated to Garner, NC. Vincent was the “go to“ for all things needing to be fixed. He was exceptionally handy and had remarkable patience. He was also a devout Catholic and a member of St. Mary’s Mother of the Church in Garner. Vincent also donated to numerous charities.
A private ceremony will be held at St. Raymond’s cemetery in the Bronx, NY where he will be laid to rest with his beloved Antoinette.
