David L. Michaels

He was born on March 14,1940 in Clearfield, the son of Joseph W. and Thelma E. (Bain) Michaels.

David graduated from Clearfield Area High School, Class of ’57. On September 2,1961 he wed his wife, the former Joyce A. Amon in the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church, known today as The Church of Christ in Clearfield. The couple celebrated 61 years of marriage.

He worked with his father as Vice-President of Clearfield Limestone until he retired in 1983.

David was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, but most important to him was his faith and love for his Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ. He attended the Clearfield Christian & Missionary Alliance Church and Shawville United Methodist Church. He also spent many years teaching Sunday School at Croft Christian & Missionary Alliance Church and Shawville United Methodist Church. David enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching sports, attending community theatre, reading, and traveling. A favorite saying of David’s was “Have van will travel!”

He is survived by three children, Lori Beth Michaels, Clearfield, David (Janice) Michaels, II, Dillsburg, PA, and Doug Michaels, Clearfield, one grandson, Stephen (Alexus) Michaels, Dover, PA, two great-grandsons, Axel David Michaels and one due to arrive mid-April!

David is also survived by two sisters, Nancy Hutchings, Bellefonte, PA, Judy Shaw, Clearfield, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Joyce who died on March 29, 2022, two brothers-in-law, Richard “PA Hutch” Hutchings and Hugh Shaw.

Friends will be received at The Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, Inc., 312 E. Locust St., Clearfield, on Friday, March 14 from 6-9 p.m. Funeral services will be private.
