Dennis Clair Lamoreau left the bonds of this world on Sunday, April 22, 2018 at his home in Clearfield, in the presence of his devoted wife, Kathleen “Cougar.” He was of the Christian faith. “There ain’t no grave can hold my body down.”
Dennis was born on March 14, 1948 in Clearfield the son of the late Clair Lamoreau and Barbara (Lentz) of Mahaffey.
He graduated from Westfield Massachusetts Trade School in 1965. He led a rough and tumble life for a time, mastering many skills for life and earning wisdom the hard way. Denny was a laborer of great renowned for his skill with an excavator, backhoe, other large equipment, and as a blaster, road construction worker and truck driver. One of Denny’s favorite sayings was “There’s the right way, the wrong way and the Lamoreau way.”
He enjoyed long country rides on his many Harley Davidsons over the years with his friends, especially Poozie Round and the late Lynn Shomo. Denny enjoyed cooking and excelled at it, especially for family, holidays and parties. His chili was famous at the Memorial Day Picnic at the Ranch in Frenchville for many years. There was always a pot of coffee ready for Barb Haversack when she came to visit. Stock car racing and NASCAR were also favorite pastimes. Following a bike accident/stroke that left him disabled; he enjoyed perusing the Auto Locator for hours each week. Denny always had a quick comeback in conversation, you would think Denny and Kathy were Ricky and Lucy at times. They enjoyed dancing and music throughout their marriage.
He had a daughter, Beth Lamoreau from an earlier marriage; with one granddaughter, Alssya Broome.
One June 30, 1985, he wed Kathleen Blowers, and became father to Justin Ogden. Denny was always supportive and influential in Justin’s life and career. Denny encouraged him to explore CB and Ham radio which led him to Civil Air Patrol and Cell phone forensics to locate lost people. Justin, his wife Amy, their daughters Natalie and Grace Ogden of VA will remember and honor him.
Dennis is survived by his brothers Joey of Chess Falls, Clair Jr. (Brandi) of Curwensville, Shawn (Joyce) Lamoreau of Grampian and a sister, Cissy (Bobby) Reese of Port Matilda and his step mother, Carol “Sis” Bracken; also surviving are sister-in-law, Helen (John) Rhine of Curwensville and three brother-in-laws: Larry (Jan) of MO, Ray (Nancy) of IN and Mel (Gloria) Blowers of GA, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Jeffrey Blowers in May 2017.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 26, 2018 at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, Inc. of Clearfield with Pastor George W. Solley officiating.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 from 6 to 8:00 PM and on Thursday from 10:00 AM until the hour of services.
