Elizabeth Rachel Belinda (Casher), 87, of Clearfield, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, June 13, 2018, surrounded by each of her children. Born May 24, 1931, in Mineral Springs, Pennsylvania, Elizabeth was the first-born daughter to Joseph and Mary Elizabeth (Rich) Casher.
Elizabeth, lovingly known as Betty, enjoyed a life filled with family and God. Along with her parents, Betty spent a great amount of time and was deeply influenced by her Uncle Hillary “Hid” and Aunt Jeanette (Rauch) Casher.
Her younger days involved playing and working on her family’s homestead and attending Bigler School. As a young adult, Betty was employed at Widman’s drug store and soda fountain in the heart of downtown Clearfield. This was a joyous time with dear friends, which included a budding romance with her future husband. In the fall of 1951, Betty married Peter Paul Belinda.
Betty’s beautiful life work was family. Her life was simple, yet profound. As a mother, she was highly devoted to raising her seven children, which she delighted in. She was naturally adept at providing intuitive guidance and bottomless love to all in her presence.
She was an avid reader of diverse literature and books, but loved historical fiction and was deeply loyal to reading the Bible and her daily scripture and devotionals. She bestowed her immense love of reading to all her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and even great-great grandchildren.
Throughout her life, Betty was humble, kind, and a faithful servant of the Lord. She was a member of the Saint Francis Catholic Church and Glad Tidings Assembly of God.
Preceded in death are her parents Joseph and Mary Elizabeth Casher, her husband Peter Paul Belinda, her brother Samuel Casher, her sister Connie (Casher) Green, her son Gary Lee Belinda, and her grandson Daniel Christopher Belinda. Surviving are her children Gregory Mark and wife Deborah (Clark) of Clearfield, Barry Lynn and wife Jeanne (Minute) of State College, Robert Timothy and wife Christine (Roseberry) of State College, Barb Belinda (Johnson) of Dubois, Sharon (Belinda) Malloy and husband Terry of Clearfield, and Jeffrey Steven Belinda and wife Rebecca of Philipsburg, and Brian Jason Belinda, of Clearfield.
Also surviving are grandchildren Angela Broad and husband William, Justin Belinda and wife Christina, Brittany Parker and husband Eron, Rachael Lorenzo and husband Michael, Abigail Belinda, Logan Belinda, Casher Belinda, and Anna Pearl Belinda, Avalyn Belinda, and Ellie Belinda. Also surviving are eight great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
