She was born on November 17, 1945 in Niagara Falls, NY the daughter of the late Donald and Ruth (Bailor) Bowman. On September 8, 1996, she married Wilber Lewis, he survives:
Retired, Julia worked as a waitress at the truck stop for twenty five years, Shawville Power plant, Piper Aircraft, and as a CNA at Mountain Laurel. Following her retirement she helped her daughter start the family business of Down River Restaurant which later branched out to Express Café, till this day her cinnamon roll, pies and chili recipes are still used at the restaurant.
She was a member of Shawville United Methodist Church. She enjoyed baking and spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren.
Julia is survived by her loving husband, Wilber Lewis; four children: Gerald Short Jr. and his wife Nancy of Minot, MA, Cindy Short of Clearfield, Tammy Sharma of Clearfield, Ruth Leonard and her fiancé Robert Blake of Frenchville; two step daughters: Heather Furbee and her husband Jeff of Winston Salem, NC and Jennifer Lewis and her husband Brian Shelper; twelve grandchildren and one great grandchild; a brother, Donald Bowman and a sister, Linda Peters and her husband James.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Katherine Tibbens, a brother, James Bowman, three nephews: Bobby Tibbens, Edward Peters and Jacob Peters.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 from 3-5pm at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, Inc., a funeral service will follow at 5pm with Rev. Stanley Wisor officiating.
Arrangements are under the care of Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, Inc. in Clearfield.
