He was born on July 1, 1932 in Williamsport, PA the son of the late Orville and Florence (Graham) Carson. On June 5, 1955 he married Helen (Calhoun) Carson, she survives.
Richard served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
He graduated from Jersey Shore High school, received his bachelor’s degree in education from Lock Haven University and his Masters from Elmira College.
Retired, Richard worked as a Chemistry Teacher for Towanda Area High School for 30 years.
He was a member of Monroeton United Methodist Church, Retired Teachers and the American Legion.
Richard enjoyed hunting, fishing, wildlife and puzzles.
He is survived by loving wife of 63 years, Helen Calhoun; five children: Jolene Vaow and her husband Delbert of Clearfield, Craig Carson and his wife Jeri of New Carlisle, OH, Jeffery Carson and his wife Chong Sim of Fairborn, OH, Scott Carson and his wife Nancy of Cincinnati, OH and Michelle Armour and her husband Robert of Harrisburg; 17 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; and a sister, Margaret Kisner of Harrisburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Dean and Ward Carson.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are under the care of Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, Inc. in Clearfield.
