

Born May 7, 1945, in Clearfield, the son of Robert F. and Stella (Hudson) Mitchell.
He was a graduate of Clearfield Area High School.
Richard had been a Journeyman for TAFCO Inc. and worked for the Sheet Metal Local 12.
He was affiliated with the Glen Richey Primitive Methodist Church.
Richard was a United States Army Veteran obtaining the rank of E5, serving during the Vietnam Era. During his service he received the awards of Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Air Medals with Oak Leaf Cluster, Expert M-16 Badge, Vietnam Combat Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Air Medal, Army Commendation Medals and Combat Infantry Badge.
He was a member of the Clearfield Veterans of Foreign Wars F. Michael Sicks Post No. 1785, Glen Richey Sportsmen, Clearfield Hobby Garden Club and a charter member of the Glen Richey Volunteer Fire Company.
Richard is survived by his wife, Lois J. (Jacobson) Mitchell, whom he married June 29, 1968, a brother, John A. Mitchell and his wife Betty of Curwensville and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Carol and Christine Mitchell.
Funeral services will be held at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, Inc., Clearfield on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at 11:00 AM with his nephew, Ronald P. Jacobson officiating. Interment will be in Historic Crown Crest Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the Clearfield Honor Guard.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday, March 27, 2026, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM and on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the hour of services.
