Adriana Cornelia Maria de Vries-van der Vegt passed away in her home on July 22nd 2015, in Dunedin, FL at 93 years old. She was born in Dongen, the Netherlands on December 1, 1921. She is predeceased by her husband Joseph de Vries who passed in 1998. She is also predeceased by her siblings Matheus, Alda and Ellie; while she is survived by her younger sister Kitty. She is also survived by five children; Rene de Vries (wife Eleanor), Dick de Vries (wife Helen), Jos de Vries (wife Ingrid), Fons de Vries (wife Xandrie) and Marielle McDade (husband Mark). Her 14 grandchildren; Daniel de Vries (wife Kylie and two children), Rodelle Payne (husband Logan), Monique Eades (husband Neville and three children), Archie van Riemsdijk (partner Sharon and two children), Pascale van Riemsdijk(partner Mars and two children), Karin de Vries, Eddo de Vries, Esther de Vries (partner Patrick and two children), Marlon de Vries (partner Ties and one child), Lisan de Vries, Stefan de Vries, Casey McDade, Taylor McDade and Mitchell McDade. Originally from the Netherlands she is the daughter of a director of a milk factory. She later immigrated to Curacao, of the Netherland Antilles after World War II in 1949, where she worked as an Elementary School Teacher. She married Joseph in 1959 in Curacao, and raised her five children. She treasured education, instilling this in her children to attain higher education and pursue successful careers. In July of 1981 she immigrated to Dunedin, FL, in the United States which was a longtime dream of hers. She was blessed to have family all around the world; she had the opportunity to see many beautiful places in her times visiting her family. She was happy to also have her daughter and three of her grandchildren close by to see on a consistent basis. She became an American citizen in 2009 which was one of her happiest life achievements; she was even recognized as the oldest individual to be naturalized in the ceremony. She is known by those who love her to be passionate about her family, environmentally friendly and skillfully playing the odds. She enjoyed puzzling, watching tennis, and playing the lotto. As an active member of the Holland club she enjoyed spending time with her friends and keeping in touch with her Dutch heritage. She was a remarkable woman who kept her mind active into her final days, proving her soundness of mind and significant strength. She will be laid to rest on July 27, surrounded by her children, family and friends.

Beste Neven, lieve Marielle,

Gecondoleerd met het verlies van tante Adrie. Wij leven mee met jullie verdriet in deze dagen.
Ik nam de tijd om mijn herinneringen aan haar, de revue te laten passeren. Van het oude Noordkant tijdperk, waar zij en jullie vader het heel zwaar hadden volgens mij, tot de later tot florissant bedrijf opgebouwde farm
op de Berg en daarna de gezellige, leuke mensen in Dunedin. Daar hadden ze het heerlijk en was het droevig dat tante A3 zonder oom Jos verder moest.
Ze heeft het voortreffelijk gedaan en jullie moeten maar troost putten uit het feit dat zij zolang bij jullie was. Toevallig moest ik vorige week heel erg aan haar denken toen ik op de TV iets zag van mensen die enorme puzzels in elkaar zetten. Daar hield ze van . En van spelletjes ....... en casino was ook niet verkeerd. In de hemel is vast ook van alles te doen op dit gebied.
Zo blijft ze in onze herinnering. Veel sterkte toegewenst vanuit Suriname voor jullie allen en jullie gezinnen. We denken aan jullie.

Dear Family De Vries & friends,
Our sincere condoleances to our Nephews and Niece, partners and Children to Rene, Dick, Jo's, Fons and Mariella De Vries.
Aunt Adry was compassionate, honest, and warm person with respect for life and it's aspirations it has to offer!
I remember her telling me to grasp every opportunity what life has to offer, and now she has fulfilled her task her on earth.
Rest in Peace my dear you will be missed.
