YALI, Albert (Al), 71, of Largo (Florida) passed away on December 21, 2010. Al was born in 1939 in Bogotá, Colombia in South America and came to the United States (NYC) in his early teens. He became a naturalized citizen and served in the United States Army where he was a sharpshooter and marksman. He received an honorable discharge from active duty in 1963. He lived in Plainview, Long Island, New York through 1979, and then moved his family to Largo, Florida. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus (NY) and served as a Eucharistic Minister for St. Patrick’s Catholic Church (Largo). He was most recently a congregant of St. Catherine of Sienna Catholic Church in Clearwater. Al worked at Smith & Nephew, Inc for 15 years before retiring five years ago. He also spent many hours over many years volunteering at area nursing homes including Oak Manor, Highland Pines, East Bay Nursing Home, Palm Garden of Pinellas, and Palms of Largo. Al was an avid international football (soccer) fan, cheering for clubs like Chelsea and Barcelona, and national teams like Brazil and Spain. He also loved to dance, bowl, listen to opera, and to repair watches and jewelry; he especially enjoyed stories and movies about the mob. Al himself was a great and animated story and joke-teller, which kept everyone laughing. He was also very creative and inventive – he enjoyed making new things out of old. Al was a devoted husband and father and loved his family above all else. He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years: Arlene (McGuire); daughters Ann Marie (NY), Patricia (Miami), and Linda (Clearwater); son-in-law to be Jeff (Dunedin); sisters Yolanda (AK), Clara (GA), and Elvira (GA); sister-in-law Margaret (Spring Hill) and brother-in-law Edward (Ocala); as well as many caring and beautiful aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends living all around the world.
