Ann is survived by her daughters; Gina Hahl, Brenda Magliacano (her husband Brock Daniels) and Geri Reed (her husband Brad Reed), three grandchildren; Justin Hahl (his wife Hope Hahl), Robert Magliacano and Zachary Coates, one great granddaughter; Emily Hahl, her identical twin sister; Helen Thacker Carter and her brother; Raymond Thacker.
Ann lived most of her adult life in Pinellas County, Florida after living and working in Washington D.C in her early years and growing up as a child in Crane’s Nest, Virginia. Ann was very proud of her humble beginnings as a coal miner’s daughter and her family has always been her top priority.
She spent most days after retirement with her family, either shopping or eating out with her twin sister, Helen and her weekly lunches with her brother, Pete. She was a master at crossword puzzles and word search and loved spending time with her bird, Elmo.
Ann loved her job with The Moorings, sailing and attending boat shows all over the U.S. She had the opportunity to sail from time to time throughout her career with the Moorings in the Caribbean and in the states. She also was a proud boat owner herself of a Moorings catamaran named “My Ann” and although she was afraid of water and had never learned to swim, somehow, she felt safe on “bigger” boats. Ann was very proud of having worked with the Moorings from the start of the business when it was owned by Charlie and Ginny Cary. Her passing has made her family abundantly aware of the reach of her love, and the wake of the positive energy that was left behind her.
Ann “never knew a stranger”. She made fast friends everywhere she went and cherished her long-time friendships with so many wonderful people throughout her life. She adored her family and the family’s newest addition, her first great grandchild, Emily Hahl. She always had plenty of tick tac’s to share, loved her Publix cherry cokes and always found reasons to have family gatherings or lunch dates with her friends. Her laugh was infectious and her sense of direction was awful, which always brought a good belly laugh.
Ann took great joy out of helping families or people in need and organizations that helped those people in need, she also adored all animals. For that reason, the family requests that in lieu of flowers they would like for you to donate to a family in need or an organization in your area that helps families or pets.
A celebration of Ann’s life will be held at John Chestnut Sr. Park 2200 East Lake Rd. South Palm Harbor, Fl. on November 20, 2021 from 12:00p.m. to 4:00p.m., shelter #6. Please dress casually and you are welcome to bring a folding chair.
