Augustine (Gus) Nedik, devoted husband and father, entered into his heavenly rest on May 21, 2014 where he was united with his wife Laurentienne, the love of his life and wife of 64 years, who pre-deceased him in June 2013. We know they are dancing together tonight in heaven.
Gus was born on 5/15/1929 in Chelsea, ME, the son of Elko and Mary (Duduch) Nedik (both deceased). He attended Chelsea and Augusta schools. He was self-employed by Nedik Bros. Roofing & Siding. He retired from Statler Tissue Company in 1990 where he was the Office Manager. He was a member of Light of Christ Catholic Church and was formerly a member of St. Mary’s Church in Augusta, Maine. He was a member of Abnaki Council #334 Knights of Columbus and lifetime member of Abnaki Assembly #346 – 4th degree. He was a former member of the Elks Club in Augusta, ME and participated in many On Top of the World club activities such as golf and horseshoes.
Survivors include his loving children and grandchildren – son Gary M. Nedik and daughter-in-law Mary Settle of Clearwater; son Steven A. Nedik of Clearwater, FL; daughter Pamela (Nedik) Induni and son-in-law Brian A. Induni of Hayden, ID; and granddaughter Crystal Nedik of Zephyrhills, FL; grandson Shane Nedik of Augusta, ME; and grandsons Nicholas M. Induni of Cambridge, MA and Matthew A. Induni of Palo Alto, CA; along with many nieces and nephews and many lifelong friends.
He is also survived by a Sister Patricia Truman and her husband Burton of Hallowell, ME.
He was pre-deceased by sisters Helen Lindman, Louise Clifford, and Alice Cummings; and brothers Alson Nedik, Leon Nedik, Joseph Nedik, and Tony Nedik.
The word amazing doesn’t even begin to describe Gus. He could do anything and fix anything. Gus’s favorite sport was golfing. He made 2 hole-in-one’s during his lifetime! He loved hunting, fishing, and especially playing cribbage with his children and grandchildren (who he taught the game at a very early age.) They loved their Grandpa! In fact, absolutely everyone loved Gus. He will be missed by all who knew him. He was simply a lovable guy who always had time to help those in need, and especially attending to his wife when she was ill.
There will a viewing from 10:00 a.m. -11:00 a.m. at Sylvan Abbey on Wednesday, May 28th. Services will be held immediately following the viewing at 11:30 a.m. at Light of Christ Catholic Church in Clearwater. Memorial gifts may be made to Suncoast Hospice.
