in the comfort of her home with her most loved family members at her bedside.
Barbara was born on November 20, 1947 in Batavia, New York. She and her siblings lived in the small town of Leroy, New York until they moved to Clearwater, Florida in 1959.
Barbara had a green thumb. She loved taking care of her plants and her backyard was a beautiful green peaceful oasis she took great pride in. Many of her favorite memories were made with family and friends for parties, holidays or just sitting and having coffee in her backyard.
She was trendy, elegant, and always the best-dressed person in every room. She loved movies, music and watching her favorite shows and soaps with her sister. She was completely selfless, kind and would put the needs of strangers before her own. Her love languages were giving gifts and providing acts of service to others. She always insisted on giving 'heart to heart' hugs over handshakes because an open heart was the gift she gave to every person she met.
Barbara had many cherished 'friends who became family' with friendships that spanned over several decades. She was Babs to friends, Mom to her kids, Sissy to her sister, Gram & Mamu to her grandkids and Auntie B to her nieces - all names she carried loudly and proudly given by the people she loved most.
She is survived by her daughters Tracey Thomson & Stacey Burnett, son-in-laws Joey Thomson & Doug Burnett, sister Nancy Holler, brother Bob Heimlich, sister-in-law Barbara Heimlich, grandsons, Jeremy Robinson, Arthur Paula, Slaydon Buckley, Trenton Buckley & Bryson Kagawa, granddaughter, Lauren Robinson, great-granddaughters Hannah Robinson and Sofia Paula. She also leaves behind many nieces and great-nephews she loved deeply.
Barbara was greeted at the gates of Heaven by her loving mother Jean Heimlich, many friends, and the one she was most eager to meet - The Keeper of the Stars.
Friends and family are welcome to attend Barbara’s Celebration of Life on Sunday, November 3, 2024 from 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home located at 2853 Sunset Point Rd, Clearwater, FL 33759.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to the Suncoast Hospice Foundation.
