Bernard was born on April 24, 1934 in Evanston, Illinois to parents John Maximillian Lechner and Louise Steiner.
He is survived by five sons, Charles (Kathy), John (Judi), James (Dawn), Thomas (Jennifer), and Robert (Fara); one daughter, Cathy (Bill) Barnes; three stepchildren, Cindy (Mike) Siders, Melinda (James) Clark, and Jeff (Sandy) Jones.
Bernard started his family when he was 19 years old. Later on in life he received his Juris Doctor from Loyola University Chicago. He primarily worked as a CPA. In retirement he became an avid reader.
A Graveside service will take place on December 11, 2:00 pm at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park, 2860 Sunset Point Rd, Clearwater, (727) 796-1992
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bernard’s name to his Aunt’s Abbey, Sisters of St. Mary of Oregon, 4440 SW 148th Ave, Beaverton, OR 97078.
