

Bruce Gotts, age 83, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2026. Born on August 8, 1942, at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Bruce lived a life defined by learning, service, and deep love for his family.
Bruce graduated from South Lyon High School in South Lyon, Michigan, in 1960 and went on to attend the University of Michigan. He dedicated many years of his professional life to The Ann Arbor News, where he built lasting relationships and contributed meaningfully to his community. Later, he founded and operated a small shopper magazine called Access in Adrian, Michigan.
A man of strong values and quiet generosity, Bruce was deeply family-oriented. He shared a loving marriage with his wife, Beth Maxie, who was truly the love of his life. Her passing was a profound loss for him. Together, they enjoyed traveling and spending time with family, creating memories that will be cherished by all who knew them.
Bruce was a lifelong learner with a curious and engaged mind, continuing to take college classes well into his 80th year. He also gave back to his community in impactful ways, serving for many years as a Guardian Ad Litem, advocating for the best interests of children. His compassion, patience, and wisdom made him a trusted mentor and a steady presence in the lives of many.
He was an active member of the Unitarian Universalists of Clearwater, where he found spiritual community and connection. In his personal time, Bruce enjoyed golfing, especially with his cousin Cal, and was known among friends for his humorous emails that never failed to bring a smile.
Bruce is survived by his children, Kelly (Dan) Gautz, Steve Rosebrook, and John (Cindy) Rosebrook; his sister, Mary (Buddy) Drye; as well as his niece, Wendy Drye, and nephew, Phillip Drye. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Connor Gotts, Kayleigh Gotts, Mia Gotts, Megan Rosebrook, Emily Rosebrook, Sarah Rosebrook, Kathleen Rowe, McKenzie Schissler, Gus Schissler and Kendall Schissler, who brought him immense joy.
He remained close with his cousin, Cal Gotts; his friend Mary; his great-niece, Jessica; and his first wife, Diana, all of whom held a special place in his heart.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Al and Jeanne Gotts; his wife, Beth Maxie; and his children, Kathleen Gotts, Kimberly Gotts and Paul Gotts.
Bruce will be remembered as a compassionate, thoughtful, and wise man whose legacy lives on through the many lives he touched. His dedication to family, learning, and service leaves an enduring impact that will not be forgotten.
