

Bryan Michael McGuire, 78, died peacefully on August 18, while surrounded by his loving family and friends. Born April 24, 1937 in Buffalo, NY, the fourth of five sons, to proud parents Francis James and Mary Catherine (Kelly) McGuire, Bryan is survived by Nancy (Gatta) McGuire and their six children: Maureen, Mary (James Owens), Donna, Catherine (Robert Farrow), Bryan G. and Timothy; eight outstanding grandchildren and one lovely great-granddaughter, Leilani; he is also survived by his brother Frank McGuire (Donna) of Buffalo, NY and three predeceased brothers: John, Gerald (“Jerry”) and Donald McGuire. Bryan had 44 wonderful nieces and nephews. Bryan graduated from Bishop Timon High School class of 1954; then graduated with an Electrical Engineering Degree from the University of Buffalo in 1959. He then began his professional career as Sales Engineer for Westinghouse. In his ten years with Westinghouse he worked in Binghamton, NY, Chicago, IL and then back to Buffalo, NY. After his years with Westinghouse, Bryan was involved in a partnership to pursue securing a dome stadium in Buffalo, NY, as well as real estate projects throughout Western New York. In the mid-1970’s, Bryan moved his young family to Clearwater, FL where he flourished as a real estate developer on Florida’s West Coast. He was one of the ten individuals that initiated Time-Sharing as a real estate offering, which was initiated in Florida, then eventually prevalent worldwide. In recent years, Bryan continued to work as a turn-around consultant for distressed time-share properties and also continued to broker commercial and residential real estate properties. In his spare time, he wrote the novel “The Only Love That Lasts”, several books on real estate and time-sharing, and also published poetry. Bryan was a proud Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus and a past Faithful Navigator for the Barney Gonyea Council 7109. A visitation will be held at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home from 6pm to 8pm on Friday, August 28, 2015. The funeral mass will be celebrated at Espiritu Santo Catholic Church in Safety Harbor, FL, at 10:30am, Saturday, August 29th, 2015. Inurnment at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park will take place at a later time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Suncoast Hospice Foundation 5771 Roosevelt Blvd in Clearwater, FL 33760 (www.thehospicefoundation.org), or to a charity of your choice in Bryan’s memory.
