Cathy Giffin Guy

Cathy loved her family, her heart is with her loving husband of 56 years, Edward Guy, her sons and their families: Ed and Maria, Scott and Alicia, and her grandchildren, Sasha and Christian Elfers, Tyson Guy, Ayden Guy, and Abygail Guy, her great-grandson, Cade Elfers, and her brother, Frank Giffin in Ohio. She will be missed by her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Albert and Linda Guy, and Melba and Bill Suarez, along with her sixteen nieces and nephews, and many grandnieces and grandnephews, as well as five great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews.

Predeceasing Cathy were her father, Frank I. Giffin; her stepfather, Horace McMullen; her mother, Margorie Giffin McMullen; her brother, Bill Giffin; and her sister-in-law, Betty Guy Rolfe.

Cathy was born and raised in Mount Gilead, Ohio. She attended Milligan College in Tennessee, where she met the love of her life, Eddie. Cathy worked for Pinellas County Schools for 37 years as an English teacher at Largo High School and Oak Grove Middle School. She retired as a media specialist at Osceola Middle School.

Helping in her community during retirement brought Cathy great joy. As is evident in her donation of 7,000 volunteer hours as a CareLift greeter and passenger assistant, and sharing with others her furry friend, Bentley, through Project Pups at Dunedin Mease Hospital. Cathy also donated 100 gallons of her plasma.

Cultivating orchids and travelling the world were the delights of her private life.

A memorial service will take place at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, February 6, 2026, at First Christian Church of Clearwater, 2299 Drew Street, Clearwater, FL 33765. A reception will take place immediately after in the fellowship hall.
