He resided in Clearwater, Florida for 20 years post-retirement as lieutenant of the Chattanooga Fire Department. He is preceded in death by his parents, C.B. and Bernice Johnson, and also by his wife, Judith Johnson.
He is survived by his sons, Burke Johnson (Jennifer) and Matt Dupree (Stephanie), and his three grandchildren: Brett, Cecilia, and Miranda.
A private memorial service for the family will be held at a later date.
