December 4, 1946 – October 11, 2025
Cynthia Daniel, 78, of Dunedin, Florida, passed away
peacefully on October 11, 2025. Born in Aiken, South
Carolina, on December 4, 1946, Cynthia lived a life
marked by strength, independence, and a deep
appreciation for both art and family. A true pioneer, Cynthia built a successful career in technology at a time when few women worked in the field. With a natural gift for computers and a meticulous
attention to detail, she thrived professionally and later
combined her entrepreneurial spirit with her artistic eye to
create A Stroke of Genius, a business representing
renowned portrait artists. Her work reflected her refined
taste and her belief in the power of creativity.
Cynthia’s independence was matched by her warmth and
humor. She had a childlike sense of fun and an infectious
laugh that made those around her feel at ease. She
approached life with curiosity and an eye for beauty,
whether she was designing a room, hunting for antiques,
or tracing her family’s history through her love of
genealogy. Of all her joys in life, her greatest pride was her son, John Shields. She loved sharing stories of his childhood, his
accomplishments, and his career with unmistakable pride
and affection. Cynthia’s devotion to John was
unwavering, and her love for him remained the heart of
her world. She is survived by her beloved son, John Shields,
and her cherished grandchildren, Cicley Shields and Lillie
Shields. Cynthia’s legacy lives on in the creativity she
inspired, the laughter she brought to others, and the
example she set as a strong, capable, and loving woman.
In lieu of flowers, we know she'd love it if you supported a local independent restaurant or farmers market in her honor. With Thanksgiving coming up, may your kindness and generosity bring a little extra joy and blessings to those around you-just like Mom always did.
