Elizabeth F Barry

Born July 12th, 1924, in Largo Florida, Elizabeth (Betty Jo) Barry passed away on August 17, 2024 at the age of 100 in Clearwater Florida.

A descendant of the McMullen family, she was the youngest of two daughters born to Clifford Franklin Fussell, and Marguerite Amy McMullen Fussell of Largo Florida.

She graduated from Largo High School and attended college and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in education from Florida State College for Women, now Florida State University. She married Dean Barry of Clearwater, Florida and they raised four children.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dean and her sister Reid Allen.

She is survived by her children Jack Barry (Nancy Stevens), Carol Barry Moore (Bob), Pat Barry, Bob Barry (Debbie) and her grandchildren Austin Barry, Kyle Barry (Anna Williams), and Katherine Barry.

Betty Jo enjoyed teaching for many years and retired from Oak Grove Middle School in Clearwater Florida. In addition to teaching, she was an active member of Hope Presbyterian Church in Clearwater, serving on various ministries and as an Elder of the church.

There will be a graveside service at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park at 10:00 am on Thursday August 22.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hope Presbyterian Church, to the Alzheimer’s Association or Suncoast Hospice.
