Frances Lynette Braaksma

Frances Lynette Braaksma “Franny”, 90, of Odessa, Florida, passed away surrounded by family on April 12, 2025. She was born on January 2, 1935 in Commonwealth, Pennsylvania to parents Levi and Bernice Berry. She graduated from George Washington High School.

From Pennsylvania, Franny moved to Florida and that is where she met the love of her life Marvin D. Braaksma, they were married on December 7, 1973. Franny was always a caregiver, she raised her three children Sharon, Allyn, and Roland.

In Franny’s career she worked as a switch board operator for many years, then a real estate agent and contractor licensee.

Franny was also very devout in her faith- she attended Countryside Christian Church for many years, even volunteering with the children’s youth ministry. In her free time, Frances enjoyed playing golf, fishing, shopping, being outdoors, enjoying her morning cup of coffee looking out at the lake, hobbies skiing, hunting and nascar. She will be remembered for her warm and inviting personality, always making time to meet with friends every Friday night for dinner. What she loved most of all was spending quality time with her family. She will be dearly missed by all those who knew her.

To know Franny was to love her, she will be dearly missed by Daughter Sharon; Sons Allyn and Roland; Grandchildren Chelsea, Kaylie (Nick), Lindsey (Justin), Dakota, Haley, Bridget (Brian), Madi (Jimmy), and Andrew (Caroline); Great-grandchildren Jaylynn, Nicholas, Violet, Maverick, Madilyn, Tinsley, Landon, and Aubrey; Siblings Pauline, Evonne, and Darold; Niece Kimberly and Nephews Dennis, Darrin, Carl, Wray, Mark, Eric and Donald; and family friend Martha, and Brenda (Shaun).

A visitation for Frances will be held Tuesday April 22, 2025 at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home starting at 12:00pm with a Funeral to begin at 1:00pm, and a graveside service to follow at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park.
