Baggs, James T., 85 of St. Petersburg, died peacefully Wednesday April 15 under palliative care at Gulfport Rehabilitation Center. He was born in Tampa April 6, 1930 to Thomas Jefferson and Elsie Comelete (Walker) Baggs. As a boy, he and his maternal grandfather, James Walker of San Antonio, sat on the porch swing together and watched the Orange Blossom Special barrel down the tracks, picking up steam as it pulled out of Tampa. He graduated from University of Miami in 1957 and served in the Korean War. He retired from Honeywell. Later, he operated one of the largest self-service chain car washes in southern Pinellas County. James is preceded in death by his wife Suzanne E. (Vautrin) Baggs. Survivors include 3 sons, Michael, Brian and Tom; daughter Carroll; 7 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; cousins; and life long friends. Sadly, the youngest ones will grow up not hearing his distinctive little chuckle
