James William LasCola, born on August 3, 1956, in El Paso, Texas, passed away on February 2, 2026, at the age of 69. James grew up in Chicago and later moved to Pinellas County, Florida, where he spent the remainder of his life.
James worked as a chef for most of his life, a profession that allowed him to indulge his love of cooking. He also had a deep affection for animals and dedicated time to raising schools of fish. Known for his great sense of humor, James enjoyed playing pranks on those around him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Philip Las Cola, and his sister, Sherry Murray. He is survived by his loving mother, Barbara Las Cola; his sister, Cindy Connolly; nieces and nephews, William and Tara Connolly, Christine Connolly, Ryan and Jessie Murray, and Brandy Murray; as well as his brother-in-law, Michael Murray. James Las Cola was loved by many and will be missed.
A memorial service will be held at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home, located at 2853 Sunset Point Rd, Clearwater, FL 33759, on February 28, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. Following the memorial service, a committal service will take place at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park, 2860 Sunset Point Rd, Clearwater, FL 33759, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.
