

MCCORMACK, James S. 84, of Tampa, went to be with his Lord and Savior on August 8, 2016. Jim grew up in Elmhurst, NY and proudly served in our country’s military for over 20 years. Jim enlisted in the NY National Guard at the age of 16 and then the Marine Corps at 17. During his career, Jim served two tours in Korea and one tour in Vietnam where he earned the Combat Action Ribbon. Jim was commissioned as an officer in 1966. Jim, his wife, Charlotte, and his three daughters retired to Tampa in 1970 where he once served as a Marine recruiter. Jim earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Tampa and worked another 25 years in the moving and transportation industry. After his second retirement, Jim spent 13 years as a volunteer at MacDill AFB. Jim was an active church member at Christ Community Church and Idlewild Baptist Church. Jim is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Charlotte; daughters Joyce Peace and husband Don, Lynn Barzler and husband Paul, and Ruth Wolcott and husband Dave; brother, Bill; granddaughters, Sara, Katelyn, and Kristin; grandsons Jamie, Jonathan, Joey, Andrew, and Joshua; and three great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on 16 August at Idlewild Baptist Church, 18333 Exciting Idlewild Blvd, Lutz, FL 33548.
