Joaquin (Jack) L. Baralt Jr, age 76, of Clearwater, Florida, died on Thursday, June 6, 2019. He was born in Havana, Cuba to Joaquin and Olga (Lopez de Lopez) Baralt and was the second of four children.
Jack is survived by his beloved wife, Jacqueline, two children: Joaquin (Jack) L. Baralt III, (Claire) and Jessica Baralt Granger, (Jesse); three step children: Kimberly Lee, (David), Pamela Klucas, Rebecca Cade, (Steven), and 10 beautiful grandchildren. He leaves behind his family: his oldest brother’s wife, Mary Baralt, his sister Olga DeGuenther (John) and his brother Carlos (Cay) Baralt, (Gloria) and many dearly loved nieces and nephews.
Jack was a devoted father, husband and grandfather, who loved his grandchildren dearly. His hobbies included boating and collecting stamps. He was a man of great faith who enjoyed the company of his family and friends. Jack will be remembered as an individual who inspired many through his guidance and leadership serving both local and church communities.
Jack attended Ruston Academy in Havana, Cuba, Villanova University and University of Miami earning a bachelor in Business Administration and the American Institute for Foreign Trade ‘Thunderbird’; He proudly served in the Marine Corps Reserves.
During his career, he was an expert in his field and held various positions within the financial and banking industries - including working for the State of Florida’s Comptrollers Office until his retirement in March 2010.
He was a life long Catholic and was actively involved within the church community at Espiritu Santo Catholic Church including the Men’s Group, Eucharistic Ministry, and Respect Life Committees. He achieved the Fourth Degree within the Knights of Columbus earning the title, Sir Knight Jack Baralt.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ernesto (Ernie) Baralt. The family will have a private wake from 4:00-5:00 pm and greet guests from 5:00-7:00 pm on Monday, June 10, 2019 at the Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home in Clearwater. Funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at 10:00 am at Espiritu Santo Catholic Church, 2405 Philippe Parkway, Safety Harbor, FL with reception immediately following the service. Burial will follow at 3:00 pm at Sylvan Abbey cemetery. The Baralt family would like to request in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Knights of Columbus Council 7109.
