She is survived by her daughters, Ruth Valade and Linda (Stephen) Noel, foster daughter, Patricia (Campany) Johnson, grandchildren, Paul (Heather) Smith, Shannon (Lupe) Sigala, Gregory Smith, Pamela Maldanado, Emily Noel, great-grandchildren, Jillian Sigala, Kinsley Sigala, siblings: Harold Charette, Rena Beaulieu, Jeannine Geilow, Eleanor Reese, James Charette and special niece, Rhonda Beaulieu. Norma is preceded in death by her husband, Dudley M Pelletier grandchild, Sarah Smith, and siblings, Morris Charette (infant), John Charette (infant), Della Lamarr.
Norma fondly remembered her childhood memories of living in the woods with her family in a lumber camp. She loved living in nature, with a brook close by, and interesting wildlife to observe. Norma graduated from Fort Kent High School in Maine in 1949. She then went on to get her nursing degree from Sister's Hospital in Waterville, Maine in 1951.
Norma enjoyed quilting and sewing (she made homemade dresses, costumes, and clothes for dolls), gardening (both vegetable and flower gardens), loved the outdoors, camping, and baking (She made delicious pies, cookies, and cakes),. She had an interest in science and healthcare (she worked as an LPN), loved reading (especially historical fiction). She was a devout Catholic. She also had a passion for financial management and was the family historian (she researched both Pelletier and Charette family genealogies through a manual search of church records, government files, cemeteries, and interviews with extended family). She enjoyed traveling, whether camping in State Parks or traveling to destinations across the United States (Grand Canyon, San Antonio, Caribbean cruise) and Mexico.
Norma loved being around children; she opened her home to foster children, and Fresh Air children, and taught CCD (Catechism) at church.
Some fond memories from her daughters: Mom enjoyed picking blueberries in the woods, Sundays were a treat day (we could eat candy and ice cream! Mom made fried dough), camping at Eighth Lake, and keeping the landscape meticulous in Bridgeville, PA.
In her later years, Norma enjoyed puzzles, playing Rummikub, listening to classical music, playing cards (especially Charlemagne), and going out for ice cream. She loved having her grandchildren visit her. She had a favorite plant that she pampered, and going to church with her sister-in-law.
A Memorial Mass will be held for Norma at 10:00 am on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church (7809 46th Way North, Pinellas Park, FL 33781).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Catholic Relief Services or to Morton Plant Hospital Foundation.
