Patricia A. Floyd, 87, of Largo, Florida, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family, on March 10, 2026. She was born on July 30, 1938, in New York, to the late Alice Dean, and raised in South Groveland, Massachusetts.
Pat graduated from St. James Central Catholic High School in Haverhill, Massachusetts in 1956. While a senior in high school, she worked part-time at F.W. Woolworth Company for a handsome Assistant Manager, Lewis E. Sayer, Jr. They married soon after she graduated, and her mother never let him forget that he had met “a million dollar baby in a 5 & 10 cent store”. Pat worked as a secretary for Western Electric until she and Lew began building a loving home and raising their four children, Mark, David, Karen, and Cindy.
Pat and Lew later relocated to Maryland, where she lived for 30 years. She devoted her life to her family as a proud homemaker and a loving wife and mother. She had her hands full, but loved every minute of it. She was very involved in her children’s school and sports activities, including Room Mother, and planning parties and field trips.
Pat was widowed at 34. She was the strength of her family during this difficult time. She later married David L. Floyd. Following his retirement in 1989, the couple relocated from Laurel, Maryland, to Palm Harbor, Florida, where they enjoyed many happy years together.
Pat found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She enjoyed her daily three mile walks, exercise classes, square dancing, road trips across the United States, cruises, reading, watching movies, and weekends watching football. Pat had a special gift for bringing people together and delighted in entertaining family and friends. She especially enjoyed attending her family’s annual Fourth of July picnics.
Above all else, Pat’s life was centered around her deep faith and her unwavering love for her family. In addition to her mother, Pat was preceded in death by her first husband, Lewis E. Sayer, Jr., and her second husband, David L. Floyd.
She is survived by her children: Mark (Marisa) Sayer, David (Yvette) Sayer, Karen Hays, and Cindy (Mervyn) Marx. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Ryan (Melissa) Sayer, Amber (Alan) Taylor, Kristopher Sayer, Annie Hays, Michael Hays, Derek Marx, Stephen Sayer, and Gillian Marx, along with dear friends who will miss her deeply.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
A celebration of Patricia’s life will be held at a later date.
