

Paul O. Germann Jr, of Dunedin, FL., a resident of Clearwater and Belleair for over fifty years, died January 13, 2025 at the age of 94. He had been a local antique dealer, historian and retired editor and writer who also spent summer time at his home in Waynesville, NC, for over 40 years enjoying life and friends in the mountains as well.
Germann, who owned and operated the Collectors’ Corner antiques and collectibles business in Clearwater with his father and sister, later moved the business to be one of the first dealers in Belleair Bluff’s Antique Alley in 1982. He served for several years on Clearwater’s Historical Committee before moving to Belleair and was a charter member of both the Clearwater and Pinellas County historical societies. He served on the board of the latter for its first several years.
Born in Chicago, he graduated from Hinsdale, IL., High School and DePauw University as a journalism major and served as editor of the university’s newspaper, the oldest in Indiana, during its centennial anniversary year in 1952. He was a member of Phi Gamma Delta social fraternity, Sigma Delta Chi professional journalism society and was recipient of the school’s Hogate Journalism award.
After service in the U.S.Air Force as an editor and information specialist, he followed a career in communications as an industrial editor with Continental Casualty Insurance company and later with Encyclopaedia Britannica, Inc., in Chicago. He moved to Clearwater in 1969 and there he also served with Mease Health Care Foundation as a publicist until he retired in 1985 and wrote Mease’s Fiftieth Anniversary history. He devoted later years to antiques collecting, traveling and his philanthropic activities.
He was preceded in death by his sister in Dunedin.
A service and inurnment will take place at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park in Clearwater where members of his family also rest.
