It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Dr. Richard "Richie" Alonso, Jr. on May 14th, 2026 (Ascension Thursday), surrounded by his loving family and closest friends. Richie leaves behind a remarkable legacy in his children, Anna Maria and Theodore James (TJ), whose zest for life, adventurous spirit, and quest for knowledge are a testament to his enduring influence.
His distinguished professional career as a Doctor of Pharmacy was marked by his exceptional commitment to providing quality care to his patients and community, as well as his dedication to educating other professionals in his field. Notably, he was most proud of achieving a perfect score on the Florida Board of Pharmacy exam. Richie's personal interests included his passion for Porsches, guitar playing, Hemingway, fishing, and spending time on the water with his family, particularly in the Florida Keys. Richie had a wicked sense of humor, wit, and astounding sarcasm, reserved only for those whom he loved.
We ask for prayers of peace and comfort for Richie's children, Anna Maria and TJ, parents, Richard Sr. and Frances, as well as for his extended family and closest friends. Though we have lost Richie, we have gained an eternal presence in our lives. He fought courageously and is finally at peace.
As a devoted Beatles and Coldplay fan, Richie once expressed his desire to have the songs "In My Life" and "Blackbird" (and later the Coldplay album) played when he passed. So, Richie, may you fly safely home, our Blackbird, and while you're waiting for us to join you, may you rock out to Coldplay and shake the Heavens as you reel in your next great catch. We love you and will hold you in our hearts forever.
