

Sarah Brandt passed away on Monday, December 26, 2022. She was 102, having been born on April 17, 1920 to Fred and Ruth Pitt. She grew up in Kansas city, Missouri, and developed a love for the Big Horn Mountains of Wyoming, where her father built a cabin for the family to enjoy every summer. In 1941 she met a handsome airline pilot, Jay Brandt. He proposed to her on a hillside with a phonograph playing "Claire de Lune,” and she couldn’t say no to that. They married the same year, and raised three sons. In 1980 they moved to the Tampa Bay area. Sarah’s spirit of adventure knew no bounds. not only was she an avid outdoorswoman in Wyoming, she traveled the world throughout her life. She was fearless in exploring everything from the Paradors of Spain to snorkeling with dolphins in Belize. Sarah was an artist in everything she did, especially gardening, later pottery, and finally watercolor painting. In this she became an accomplished artist, studying at the Dunedin Fine Arts Center with many different masters of watercolor. She is predeceased by her beloved husband Jay, and brother William and sister Phyllis. She is survived by her three sons David, Jeffrey and Stephen, four grandchildren, and many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Sarah will be remembered by all who knew her for her infectious laugh, her sense of humor, and her grace no matter the situation. She possessed a striking beauty and a rare combination of strength of character and personal warmth that drew in everyone around her.
A celebration of her life is planned for this summer in the Big Horn Mountains of Wyoming.
