Shirley Louise MUNZ, age 86, of Largo, Florida passed away on Sunday, June 13, 2021 after a long struggle with Parkinson's. Shirley was born April 24, 1935 in Spring Bay, Illinois. Shirley is survived by her two sons, Jeffrey Winkler and Daniel Winkler, her daughter, Becky Winkler Naughton, her stepdaughter, Mary Anne Munz, her grandchildren, Andrew Winkler, Abigail Winkler Boudreau, Alison Naughton, Meghan Naughton McCranie, Daniel Winkler II, Morgan Winkler, Jacob Winkler and Nichole Rennert, and her great grandchildren, Hayden Winkler, Austin Winkler, Payton Boudreau, Taylor Boudreau, and Charlee Boudreau. Shirley was predeceased by her husband of 40 years, Dean Winkler, her second husband of 6 years, Arthur Munz, her brothers, Richard Hoshor, Donald Hoshor and James Hoshor, her sisters, Dorothy Hoshor McMurtry and Catherine Hoshor, and her parents, Christian Hoshor and Lula Garber Hoshor. Shirley attended elementary school and high school in Spring Bay, Illinois along with a beloved friend who would one day become her brother-in-law many years later, Larry Winkler. He survives and she cherished their relationship through her last breath. She and her husband, Dean, lived in Peoria, Illinois for several years before they moved to Abingdon, Illinois where she spent the first several years raising her three children. She partnered with Dean in the late 1960's to start a business in Abingdon, Winkler's Family Sports and RV Center. The successful business and the family home were destroyed by a tornado that barreled through Abingdon on June 14th, 1974. They rebuilt their home and business before moving to Largo, Florida in 1980 where she and Dean partnered in another business, Winky's Chicken of Largo. This successful business survived for 17 years until it was sold shortly after Dean's death. Shirley finally took a well deserved retirement before getting married to her second husband, Arthur Munz. He passed away approximately 6 years later. At the age of 70, she got bored with retirement and decided to go back to work in her son's business, Winkler, Treger and Associates. She quickly reached icon status within the family run business and was well known as "Grandma". Her email was Grandma@winklertreger.com for many years. She finally retired for the last time in late 2019. Shirley worked in entrepreneurial businesses for the better part of her life and truly enjoyed all those that surrounded her on a daily basis. She cherished and lived for her children, grandchildren, great- grandchildren, extended family, friends and coworkers and had little, if any time for self serving hobbies or pursuits. We are all so saddened by her heavenly departure, but so blessed by the time spent with her on this earth.

A Church Service in memory of Shirley's life will be held at Skycrest Unitied Methodist Church, 2045 Drew Street, Clearwater, FL 33765 on Friday, June 18th at 1:00pm, followed by a graveside service at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park and a reception at 3:00pm at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home, 2853 Sunset Point Road, Clearwater, FL 33759. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.sylvanabbey.com for the Winkler family.

In the time that I knew ‘Grandma’ she was never without a sweet smile. Always a gentle person with a kindness that embodied her very being. I will remember her fondly, and my condolences go out to the entire family. I will pray for you all in this difficult time, though I am sure she had her wings instantly!

To the dear family of my dear friend Shirley
It was so special for me to spend many many years being close friends to Shirley. She was my neighbor at the fairways. We enjoyed watching wheel of fortune together, and playing Kings in the corner of course she always like to win and I used to tease her about cheating. That always put a big smile on her face. She also love to read, and played many games of bridge will truly miss my dear friend and always treasure the great times we had Together. Oh we spent many of our birthdays together also at Applebee’s. May she now has some peace and look down upon us. Julia
