

Tom was born May 3, 1949 in Dayton, Ohio, the son of Colonel (retired) Harry and Ruth (Haller) Swan. He grew up in Dayton, Ohio; Holloman Air Force Base, New Mexico; Melbourne, Florida; and Springfield, Virginia. Tom graduated from Robert E. Lee High School, VA in 1967. He attended the University of Wyoming on a full-ride scholarship in Track and Field. He spent two years in the U.S. Naval Reserve, US Naval Yard, Washington, D.C.
While living in Palm Harbor, Florida, Tom began his career in Fine Wine & Spirits at Bay Distributors. He expanded his knowledge and experience as Assistant Manager at Arrow Wine in Arlington, VA and then Manager at Vienna Vintner in Vienna, VA, both boutique wineries. He went on to become a wine consultant for Total Wine & Beverage in Ashburn, VA.
Tom was an avid hunter and fisherman and also a talented taxidermist. He enjoyed Civil War and WWII history and collecting artifacts. He was a member of the NRA and supported numerous Veterans organizations and various community charities. Tom was blessed to travel extensively over his lifetime. He loved spending time with family and friends.
Tom was an active member of the Palm Harbor United Methodist Church and loved to greet all those coming into service.
Tom went home to be with the Lord Jesus on August 31, 2023. Tom was preceded in death by his father and mother. He is survived by his sister Barbara Wrage of Tampa, his niece Shannon (Brian) Krabel of Land O’ Lakes, FL; nephew Bryan (Melissa) Wrage of Apollo Beach, FL; grand-nieces/nephews Nicole & Kyle Krabel; Ashley, Lauren & Sarah Wrage; William “Will” & Sadie Sherman.
