Wilma D Bechtel

It is with great sadness the family of Wilma D. Bechtel, age 88, of Largo Florida announce that she has passed away on February 27, 2025. Wilma was born and raised in Chester, South Carolina. She was the middle daughter of three girls born to William and Inez Dallas. She grew up living the farm life and described her childhood as full of joy. When Wilma grew up, she moved to Florida and worked for Florida Testing Laboratories. She met and married Dennis Bechtel on March 17, 1963. The couple were wed at Wilksburg Baptist church outside of Chester, South Carolina and bought a home in Largo, Florida. Wilma dedicated her life to helping others and worked as a secretary bookkeeper for Pinellas County Schools. She highly valued family and had two children. She is survived by her children, Susan Walker and her husband Brendon of Chipley, Florida and her son Dallas Bechtel and wife Barbara of Largo, Florida. She also has two grandchildren William Bechtel and his wife Lauren of Palm Harbor, Florida and Andrew Bechtel and his wife Kaitlyn of Largo, Florida, and a great grandchild, Liam Bechtel, son of William and Lauren also of Palm Harbor, Florida.

A Celebration of Life service for Wilma is planned for March 17, 2025 at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home located at 2853 Sunset Point Rd, Clearwater, FL. 33759 at 11:00 am.

Wilma’s favorite charity was St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The family’s desire is that in lieu of flowers a donation be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in her name and memory.
