

Charles Lee Williams passed peacefully into the more immediate presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, December 23, 2024. He was the eldest son of the late Arthur Franklin Williams and Georgia Teal Williams of Greensboro, N.C.
Charlie retired from Western Electric/AT&T Greensboro, where he worked in purchasing and later with Field Engineers in the Department of Defense. He later enjoyed many fulfilling years working with CUABS in Winston-Salem.
As a young man, Charlie served in the U.S. Naval Reserve aboard the USS PCE-903 stationed in Pensacola, Florida. He attended Friendly Baptist Church earlier in life and most recently Clemmons First Baptist Church, while his health permitted.
Charlie was a man of many passions and talents. He loved classic cars, racing, boating, dancing, and gathering with friends and family. He delighted in telling stories about his brothers, playing baseball, his career at Western Electric, and his adventures driving a ski boat. He was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed watching Duke basketball games.
Charlie was the beloved husband of Lu Williams. He loved and was devoted to his stepchildren, who loved and cared for him as a father: Darren Bays, wife Rhonda of Winston-Salem; Dana L., Bryson, husband Keith of Clemmons. He was also a proud and cherished grandfather to DeAnna, Dylan, Kyler, and Micah.
Charles is loved and will be deeply missed by his brothers: Frank Williams, wife Merilyn; Robert Williams; nephew Scott Williams, wife Julie; nieces Laura Williams and Lisa Williams Mering; and many other close family members and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Clemmons First Baptist Church c/o LifeGivers of India, 3530 Clemmons Rd., Clemmons, NC 27012.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 28, at 2:00 PM at Clemmons First Baptist Church, with visitation beginning at 1:00 PM.
