

Winston-Salem- Mr. Chester R. Lumley, 85, died at Forsyth Medical Center on July 10, 2013. He was born on August 22, 1927 to the late Clifton and Elsie Whitman Lumley and lived all his life in North Carolina.
He served in the United States Army in Germany as a railroad security guard and was honorably discharged March 6, 1947. Chester worked at RJR and retired after forty years of employment. He will be remembered as having a great sense of humor and a kind heart. For many years he volunteered at Forsyth Medical Center and in his spare time he loved to bowl. Chester placed his faith in the Lord and was an active member of Westside Baptist Church for over twenty years, where he sang in the choir. He is survived by family and friends and was loved dearly by all who knew him.
Graveside services will be at Forsyth Memorial Park on Sunday, July 14, 2013 at 3 PM with Pastor Robert Dixon officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.
